VMS was originally founded in 2001 by MoT with the objective of creating an online racing community with real racing etiquette. Over several years the VMS crew has considerably grown. Some talented and motivated individuals have joined the team giving VMS members the best racing experience as possible and sharing the same passion: sim-racing. Many of the VMS crew and members have real life racing experience and therefore, we try to reproduce “as real as it gets” the same atmosphere a real driver can feel during the race week-ends.
VMS is also a philosophy. Friendship, Fair-play, Sportsmanship, Competitive races, FUN are some of our keywords… This is the GTmen attitude -read “Gentlemen”-. We are not considering this as a game, it's a Sport ! (PC Racer - 2003)
Our goal is simple: to become the greatest Online Sim-Racing Community in the world. |

[JF3] Donington Race postponed by one week |
The JF3 race at Donington has been postponed by one week. The new race day is July the 2nd. All remaining races have been postponed by a week.
I was unable to be on the server in time because of a complete blackout in my part of the city. The power came back on at around 21.45, by which time the guys on the server had either left or started a fun race. Roman was unable to on the server in time because his internet was down as well.
I'm sorry for it and hope we can have a fun race next week. |

[NASCAR 2009] - Final Round @ Indianapolis |
Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Adapting to this track
You need a good engine package -- a lot of horsepower and torque. You also must get good gas mileage because Indy is known for long green runs.
Aerodynamics are important, and the key is you have to have good downforce. You have to be able to pick up the throttle early in the turns. And you will find that long into a run, the car will start to push.
Plotting strategy
Teams try to protect their track position by changing only two tires. This track is not abrasive, and tires wear well, so you'll see guys change their left-side tires only a couple of times during the race. Cars should be able to run 35-40 laps before they need fuel, so some teams might be able to make it on three stops. Track position is very important because not many cars get a lap down in this race.
Because of the minimal banking and high speeds in the turns, teams must set up the cars to make these turns. During practice, qualifying and the race, teams will fight to get the cars to turn. Drivers who can pick up the throttle early in the corners will get better lap times. If the cars are set up right, they will run wide open through Turns 2 and 4. The only time drivers will back out of the throttle is getting into Turns 1 and 3. How you get into the throttle coming off the corners dictates how fast the car will go down the straightaways.
Right-front camber, or negative camber, makes it easier for the cars to turn in these flat turns. The problem comes when you are on the straightaways. Because of the negative camber, you'll be riding on the right shoulder of the tire. It will abuse the inside of the right front tire, so you have to find the compromise. You need to run a good rate of camber to facilitate turning but not so much that you damage the tires down the straights. Sometimes the compromise is to cut the camber from, say, 4.5 degrees to 3 degrees, and put a short A arm on the car. That causes the car to "think" it has more camber in the corners.
Where the action is
You're bringing so much speed into the corners, and so much is going on. You go from so low on the track to high on the track coming out of the corners. Cars will pinch each other off, especially off Turns 2 and 4, heading into those long straightaways. It's hard to pass. When you catch up to a car and get up behind it, even at a high speed, you'll lose your front downforce, and the car won't turn.
There's a lot of track but only a few places to pass. You need to stay close to the bottom of the track so you can set up the guy in front of you, take the lowest line and keep your low line going into the flat turns. You kind of nudge him up to take the best line off the corners. If you can get your right-front fender under the left-rear quarter panel of a car and beat the other guy back to the throttle in the corner, you can complete the pass. If your engine guys give you the power, you can take the throttle to make the pass and look good all day.
